Description

This is a villa dating from approximately 1830 to 1840. The exterior is stucco over brick, with a hipped slate roof and a stucco stack on the left side, and includes an iron balcony. The villa is two stories high with three first-floor windows, alongside a two-story, single-bay section set back to the right. A full-height canted bay is located to the left. The stucco detailing features horizontal rustication to the ground floor, with voussoirs above the windows. The two first-floor windows to the right have tooled architraves, with the central window set within an elliptically-arched recess. The first floor has 6/6 sash windows where original, and 2/2 sashes to the sides of the bays, all in plain reveals with sills. The windows to the right have Venetian blinds and blind boxes. The central entrance is within a solid porch featuring pilasters and an entablature, and contains a six-fielded-panel door with an overlight containing margin-lights. The first-floor balcony features a decorative motif from the Carron Company, in the form of a double-heart-and-anthemion. The property is situated on Tivoli Road, an area shown on Merrett's Map of 1834, with several houses to the north end being built around this time. The interior has not been inspected.
