Description
Tivoli House is a villa built around 1820 to 1834, located on Tivoli Road in Cheltenham. The building features ashlar stonework over a brick structure, topped with a hipped slate roof and end ashlar stacks. It stands two storeys tall and has four first-floor windows, with a two-storey entrance bay set back to the left. The main range displays end pilasters and horizontal rustication on the ground floor, with voussoirs above the windows and a band at the first floor. The windows are 6/6 sashes, with the ground floor windows being taller, all set in plain reveals with sills. The entrance is to the left, accessed by a flight of roll-edged steps leading to double part-glazed doors and an overlight, framed by Doric pilasters. The building has wide eaves and a first-floor band inscribed with the name 'Tivoli House'. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, houses along Tivoli Road were laid out as shown on Merrett's 1834 map, with several already built at the northern end.
