Description
The New Cemetery Lodge, Entrance Gates, and Mortuary, dated 1881, was a gift from the Duke of Bedford. This asymmetrical building features 1 to 2 storeys and is constructed of ashlar. The roof is covered with lead sheeting. On the right side, there is a Dutch gable adorned with a finial and a shield depicting a lion, fleur de lys, and sheep. A four-centred stone arch with balls in the spandrels leads to a cast iron gate that includes quatrefoil motifs. To the left, the lodge has two windows, one of which features hood moulding, and a stair turret in a splayed 2-storey bay.
