Description

LODGE: 1868. Asymmetrical 2-storey, gabled 3-bay N facing (to

driveway) lodge. Tooled coursed rubble, tooled ashlar

dressings. Projecting gabled porch at outer (W) bay linked to

advanced and gabled outer E bay by short lean-to corridor lit

by tripartite with lattice-pane glazing. Canted window in E

gable, with tripartites in ground and 1st floor at E return

elevation. Mainly multi-pane glazing; stone canopies to some

windows; centre ridge cluster of 4 round coped stacks;

decorative bargeboards; wooden apex finials; slate roofs.

GATEPIERS AND GATES: dated 1868. Tall polished ashlar piers

with Gibbsian banding; moulded cornices surmounted by finials

with base embossed with carved swags of fruit and flowers.

Pair lower ashlar terminal piers with corniced caps flank

main entrance each side. Pair large heavy cast- and

wrought-iron carriage gates with gilded decorative detailing;

ornate wrought-iron overthrow with centre gilded coronet and

other decoration.
