Description

No. 19 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the mid-19th century. The front is rendered and the roof is covered with corrugated iron, with no visible chimneys from the street. The building is designed in a classical style and stands three storeys tall with a two-window range.

The ground floor is arranged in two bays, which are flanked and separated by rusticated pilasters that support an entablature. These pilasters rest on high panelled pedestals, and their capitals are decorated with small flowers. Above each pilaster, there is a cornice featuring a small, panelled round-headed finial that contains a scallop shell. The left bay has a late 20th-century shop front, while the right bay features a six-panelled door with two old letterboxes, set in a moulded segmental-headed opening with a panelled keystone.

The second-storey windows are adorned with eared architraves that have buttressed feet, shaped fluted friezes, and moulded cornices. Each frieze includes a square panel with a four-leaved flower design. The third-storey windows have plain architraves with buttressed feet and moulded sills that extend across the front, supported by two small brackets. Both storeys have plain sash windows, and the building is topped with a dentilled eaves-cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
