Description
No. 4 East Street is a house with a shop, dating from the mid-19th century. It features a solid rendered front and a slated roof, with late 19th-century red-brick chimneys on each gable end. The building has three storeys and is two windows wide. The shop front, also from the mid or late 19th century, includes two display windows, each with three panes, which are canted in the center towards recessed double-glazed doors. To the left of the shop front is the house door, which is flanked by pilasters and features a four-panelled design, with the two lower panels flush and a circular brass knocker. The entire ground storey is accented with an entablature that has bracketed blocks at each end and above the doorway. The upper storey windows are adorned with continued sill-bands, and flanking pilasters support flat triangular pediments with vermiculated centres. The building also has raised quoins and a deep eaves-cornice with paired brackets.
