Description
No. 6 Grenville Street is a house with a shop, dating from the early to mid-19th century, with a late 19th-century shop front. The building features a solid, rendered front wall and a slate roof, with the base of a rendered chimney located on the right side wall. It stands three storeys high and has a two-window range. The ground storey is divided into two bays, which are flanked and separated by pilasters that have shaped raised panels on their shafts. Each pilaster supports a large console that holds up an entablature, which includes an enriched architrave and cornice, with a frieze decorated with foliated panels that match the consoles. The right-hand bay has original display windows, which are flanked by a recessed glazed door. The left-hand bay features a six-panelled house door, with the two lowest panels flush, accessed by a flight of three grey stone steps. The upper storeys have sash windows with recessed box-frames; the second storey windows have horns and margin-panes in the upper sashes, while the third storey windows are eight-paned. The interior has not been inspected.
