Description
No. 7 Grenville Street is a house with a shop, built in the early to mid 19th century, with alterations to the ground storey made in the early 20th century. The front is solidly rendered, topped with a slate roof and features a cream-brick chimney on the right side wall, adorned with four spiked pots. The building stands three storeys high, including a garret, and has a two-window range.
The ground storey is designed as an arcade with three segmental-headed openings, each featuring a keystone; there is a doorway to the left and two large windows to the right. At each end of the front, there are panelled pilasters that support an entablature, which projects forward over each pilaster and is supported by a console, topped with a ball-finial. The entrance includes a five-panelled door, and there is a panelled pilaster-strip between the doorway and the windows.
The upper-storey windows are plain sashes set in recessed box-frames, and there is a dentilled eaves cornice. A late 20th-century dormer has been added. The interior has not been inspected.
