Description
No. 73 High Street is a bank, likely originally a shop with living accommodation above, built in 1886 and altered in the 20th century. The building is constructed of yellow brick and features red and yellow moulded terracotta decoration. It has a slate roof with terracotta coped gables, terracotta ball finials, and crested ridge tiles.
The structure is three storeys tall with an attic. The south front is symmetrical with four windows. The ground floor has a 20th-century bank front, while the first and second floors feature three-light windows set in moulded red terracotta architraves. There are moulded red terracotta entablatures at the cill levels, adorned with dentil cornices and friezes that include guilloche and flower decoration. At the top, two large moulded red terracotta pedimental gables with ball finials and moulded yellow terracotta tympana are present, each with red terracotta oculi containing small panes. A clock is located at the centre of the first floor, mounted on an ornate iron bracket. The interior of the ground floor has been altered.
