Description

81 and 81A Wolborough Street is a house that has been divided into two dwellings. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with No 81 being a remodelling of an earlier building. The exterior features painted render and a crested slate roof that is hipped to the right, with two external rubblestone stacks located at the rear. The building has a double-depth plan with a long rear left wing.

It stands two storeys high and has a three-window range. There is a moulded eaves cornice, with 6/6-pane sash windows on the first floor and 8/8-pane sashes on the ground floor. To the left, there is a deep recess that contains two 19th-century six-panel doors in moulded architraves, one leading to the rear and the other positioned at a right angle to the right. On the far right, there is a lower windowless range that features a wide 19th-century planked door, which has a pintle for a former outer shutter or gate set into the right-hand jamb. The interior has not been inspected.
