Description
58 and 58A Oxford Street is a house that has been converted into two dwellings, dating from the early to mid 18th century. The building is constructed of squared and coursed limestone and features a gabled concrete tile roof with brick stacks at the ends and ridge. It has a three-unit plan, is two storeys high with an attic, and has a three-window range.
The facade includes a timber lintel above a mid 19th-century horned six-pane sash window, which is positioned above plank double doors set within a mid 19th-century segmental stone-arched archway on the right side. There is a raised storey band extending from the archway to the left end of the building. A flat stone arch is present over the central 18th-century six-panelled door, which has two glazed panels and wrought-iron brackets supporting a flat hood. Flat stone arches are also found over 20th-century windows flanking the door, with timber lintels above similar windows on the first floor. The building features three hipped roof dormers. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
