Description

Number 52 and Linden Tea Rooms is a house that has been converted into a house and tea room, dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of squared and coursed limestone with a gabled concrete tile roof, and Welsh slates on the rear. The building features brick end stacks and has a two-unit through-passage plan. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and has a symmetrical three-window facade. A flat stone arch is positioned over a late 19th-century half-glazed door, with a bow window to the left. The windows are horned 8-pane sashes set in moulded early 19th-century wood architraves, with flat stone arches above them. There are three hipped roof dormers, each containing 2-light casements with glazing bars.

At the rear, there is a central stair-turret that is partly timber-framed with 19th-century brick infill, along with a range that has a hipped roof and an early 18th-century gabled wing to the rear right. Inside, the central passage has stone-flag floors and features early 19th-century panelled doors set in moulded architraves, with additional panelled doors towards the rear and stone steps leading to the cellar. The room to the left contains a cased beam and stop-chamfered beams, and the building is noted for having dog-leg stairs. The first-floor flat has not been inspected.
