Description

Webbley Terrace consists of two houses located on Oxford Street, dating from the early 17th century, with No. 64 on the left being from the later 17th century. The buildings are constructed from coursed limestone rubble and feature a gabled concrete tile roof with brick end stacks. They have a 2-unit plan, are two storeys high with an attic, and present a two-window range.

In the right bay, there are early 17th century carved timber lintels above 8-pane sash windows, and above the doors to the left, there are timber lintels over 2-light casements. To the left, there is a 20th-century bow window. The front also includes two 20th-century doors with timber lintels. At the rear, there is an early 19th century eight-pane sash window and a gabled roof dormer, with a three-storey elevation.

Inside No. 62, there are stone steps leading to the basement, which features a stop-chamfered beam and a flat stone arch over the fireplace. The ground floor has a moulded beam, a finely carved wood bressumer over an open fireplace, stop-chamfered joists, a mid-18th century corner cupboard, and reset panelling. The first floor includes a stop-chamfered beam and a mid-18th century fireplace. No. 64 has stop-chamfered beams and a winder staircase.

These houses were part of a group used as a glove factory and for workers' accommodation in the 1880s.
