Description

78 and 78A Hadfield Road is a house, now divided into two houses, dating from the late 17th century with 20th-century alterations and additions. The building is constructed of roughly coursed millstone grit with tooled ashlar dressings and has a stone slate roof. It features single stone and brick stacks.

The plan consists of a single depth range with a crosswing at the rear. The exterior is two storeys high, with the street front displaying three windows. On the right side, there is a single five-light window with two central mullions, while the left side has two three-light mullion windows. There are single doorways on either side, both with 20th-century glazed doors; the right doorway has a projecting stone porch topped with a shaped ashlar gable. Above the right doorway, there are two four-light windows with central mullions, and to the left, there is a single three-light window, all positioned at eaves level. All windows are framed with chamfered ashlar surrounds. The interior has not been inspected.
