Description
The Spinner's Arms Public House is a late 18th-century laithe house and attached barn, altered in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed millstone grit with tooled ashlar dressings, and has a Welsh slate roof with a stack at the right-hand end and a front wall stack. The two-storey street front has four windows. An off-centre doorway has a painted stone surround and is flanked by single plain sash windows with painted stone lintels; to the left are two similar sashes, and beyond a single doorway with a painted stone surround. Above, there are four similar plain sashes, those to the left with painted wooden lintels. All windows have plate glass and horns. The right return has a single plain sash and a smaller window to the right, above a single plain sash. The rear elevation features a bracketed eaves cornice and a two-storey extension. The rear has irregular fenestration, including, at first floor, a single 16-pane sash window under a deep lintel, a single inserted 9-pane casement, two 12-pane casements, and a 16-pane window with the lower four panes blocked. The interior was refitted in the late 20th century.
