Description
66 and 68 Hadfield Road are a pair of houses built in the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. They are constructed from coursed millstone grit and feature ashlar dressings, with stone slate roofs and end stone stacks.
The houses are designed as double-depth structures with mirror image fronts, each having central doorways and stairs located behind the doors. The street-facing side has three storeys and two windows. There are two central doorways with large stone surrounds and 20th-century doors. Each house originally had three-light flush mullion windows, but No. 68 has had these replaced with 20th-century casements. The rear elevations are not accessible.
The interior of No. 66 has not been inspected, but it is said to contain original fireplaces and beams.
