Description
No. 3 Fore Street is a house with a shop, dating from the mid-19th century, likely with a late 19th-century upper storey. The building features painted roughcast and a slate roof with stacks at the gable ends.
It is three storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window arrangement. A dentil cornice and platband adorn the first floor, which has late 19th-century windows above. The central window is a 6/6-pane sash, flanked by 6/6-pane tripartite sashes on the first floor. The shop front is notable, flanked by moulded pilasters and topped with a moulded cornice. At the centre of the fascia is an ornate painted wrought-iron coat of arms, set within a cast-iron cresting featuring alternating anthemion and palmette motifs.
The shop has set-back double doors with an overlight, and there are semi-elliptical arches above five vertical plate-glass panes with colonnettes, one of which angles back to the door. To the left, a six-panel door features a semicircular fanlight with radiating glazing bars, along with a panelled reveal and soffit, also flanked by moulded pilasters. The interior has not been inspected.
