Description
No. 17 Silver Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. The facade is made of painted ashlar and features plain pilasters and a plinth, while the rest of the building is constructed from limestone rubble. The roof is slate, with stepped stone coping, a moulded kneeler, and a truncated stack on the right gable end. The building has a double-depth plan and is two storeys high, with a three-window range.
On the first floor, there are late 19th-century three-over-three pane sash windows set in forward frames. The ground floor features a 1/1-pane sash window to the right and a late 19th-century shop front in the center and to the left. This shop front includes a dentilled cornice above the fascia, a set-back door located left of center, and plate-glass windows flanked by colonnettes, with glazing bars on the top-lights. The interior has not been inspected.
