Description

This early 19th-century house with a shop is located on Teign Street in Teignmouth. The building is constructed of painted incised stucco with a painted moulded eaves cornice and a slate roof. It has a double-depth plan. The exterior is three storeys high and features a two-window range. It has 6/6-pane sash windows. A particularly fine Regency shop front is a prominent feature, incorporating small-paned bow windows, reeded sills, and a former six-panel door, now half-glazed with an overlight. A wide projecting cornice, supported by reeded pilasters, extends across the entire facade. Above the door is a shallow curved bay with a window to each floor within curved frames. To the ground floor right, a recessed six-panel door and overlight has reeded pilasters and an entablature that mirrors that of the shop front. A window is present in each floor above. The interior was not inspected. The building is notable for its well-preserved early 19th-century shop front, complete with its original small-paned windows.
