Description
Teign House is a house with a corner shop located on Teign Street in Teignmouth. It dates from the 18th century and was remodelled in the early 19th century. The building has a painted roughcast exterior and a slate roof that is half-hipped at the front. It features a double-depth plan.
The exterior comprises two storeys and an attic, with a one-window range. The mid-20th century door and windows are present, along with a 20th century two-light casement window in the attic. The first floor has a mid-19th century sash window with two-over-two panes, and below it is a small-paned shop window from the 20th century.
On the left side, facing Stanley Street, there is a notable painted stone doorcase with fluted pilasters that support an entablature featuring a fine dentil cornice, although this is mostly obscured by paint. The door and windows on this side are from the 20th century.
The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted that the ground floor has been altered.
