Description
37 Teign Street is an early 19th-century industrial building that now serves as a builder's yard. It features painted stucco and a slate roof, with a three-unit plan and long rear wings. The exterior includes a two-storey front block with a symmetrical three-window arrangement, showcasing six/six-pane sash windows in forward frames on the first floor. The central bay has full-height double doors leading to a stone-flagged area, flanked by a simple fascia and moulded window sills above two rows of five square panes with thin glazing bars. The plinth is made of painted stretcher-bond brick. The long rear wings still have some six/six-pane sash windows, along with overlapping industrial glazing and planked doors for loading bays. Inside, much of the original joinery remains intact. Historically, this building was used as a fish market for much of the 19th century and later as a coachbuilder's yard in the late 19th century.
