Description
Bank Cottage is a house that was originally built in the late 18th century and later modified to include a shop and flat, with a mid-19th century shop front. The exterior features painted rough render with ashlar dressings and a stone slate roof topped with a stone chimney. The building is two storeys high and has a one-window range. A half-glazed door is located on the right side within a plain stone surround. To the left, the shop front includes a shallow square projecting bay with a coursed-squared-stone stall-riser, paired sash windows flanked by narrow pilasters, and an entablature above. On the first floor, there is a central renewed 4-pane sash window set in a plain stone surround. The roof features a stone chimney at the right end, which is shared with the adjacent property, No.56, and has a top band. There is also a cast-iron coal shute grid located in the centre of the stall-riser. The interior has not been inspected.
