Description
31 and 33 Market Place is a house that has been converted into a shop and flat, dating from the late 18th century and altered in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings. The roof is not visible, but it has stone gable copings and chimneys. It stands three high storeys tall with a three-window range. There is a step up to a six-panel passage door with a plain overlight to the right, which is set under a flat stone lintel. On the left end, there is a blocked door that has been glazed. The full-width shop front includes recessed steps leading up to a central door and a plain wide continuous fascia. The first-floor features four-pane sash windows with flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills, while the second-floor has smaller nine-pane sashes. The roof has a parapet with stone coping that extends to the gables, and there are chimneys at each end. The interior has not been inspected.
