Description

Numbers 4 and 6 are two houses that were originally one, with attached rear outhouses and a wall. They date from the mid-18th century and have had some alterations in the 19th century. The exterior is made of painted coursed stone with painted ashlar dressings, and the roof is covered with renewed stone slates, featuring stone gable coping and brick chimneys. The buildings are three storeys high and have a four-window range.

The central entrances consist of six-panel doors, with the upper panels glazed, set in painted tooled surrounds. The door on the right is located in the third bay, while the left door is immediately adjacent in the second bay. On either side of the doors are 19th-century canted bay windows that have cornices and upper glazing bars. The first floor features six-pane sashes that are almost square in shape, surrounded by painted plain stone, while the second floor has smaller Yorkshire sliding sashes. The roof has gable coping on the right side, while the left side is covered by the adjacent house, and both ends have moulded kneelers. The rear outbuildings are topped with stone slate roofs. The high rear wall has flat stone coping. The interior has not been inspected.
