Description
No. 19 Thorngate is a weaver's cottage dating from the early 18th century, with a 19th-century bay window. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with quoins and features painted tooled ashlar dressings. The right side is made of rubble with through stones. It has a roof covered in stone slates, which includes stone gable copings. The cottage is three storeys high and has a two-window range.
The central entrance features a half-glazed 20th-century door set in a narrow stone surround. To the left of the door is a 6-pane sash window, while the first floor has 4-pane sashes. The top floor showcases a row of six conjoined two-light casements. There is an inserted shallow canted bay to the right of the door, which has 4-pane sashes and a cornice. The roof is adorned with gable copings on cyma-recta-moulded kneelers and has chimneys at both ends. The right side of the building has a blocked door near the rear, a small light near the front on the first floor, and scattered through stones. An iron foot-scraper is set into the wall to the left of the door. The interior has not been inspected.
