Description
No. 21 Thorngate is a weaver's cottage dating from the early 18th century. It is built from coursed squared stone with painted tooled ashlar dressings. The roof is made of asbestos that mimics Welsh slates, featuring stone gable copings and a brick chimney. The cottage has three storeys and a single-window range. There is a four-panel door on the left, set in a painted tooled plain stone surround. To the right of the center are four-pane sash windows, which are wider on the ground floor and almost square on the first floor. The second floor has three conjoined two-light casements. The roof includes a right gable coping on a cyma-moulded kneeler and a tall chimney on the right. The interior has not been inspected.
