Description
No. 2 Regent Street is a house with a shop, built in the early 19th century. It features painted roughcast with stone coping on the parapet and a slate roof that is hipped to the left. The building has a double-depth trapezoid plan and stands three storeys tall with a symmetrical two-window range.
The exterior includes two full-height curved bays, each with 6/6-pane sash windows set in curved frames on the upper floors. A dentil cornice with a small panelled frieze follows the shape of the facade. The left-of-centre doorcase is adorned with reeded pilasters topped with round caps and an entablature, while a similar doorcase on the far right is blocked. Flanking the door are bowed windows, each containing six panes with lamb's tongue glazing bars.
The interior has been noted as altered. The facade is complete and features curved bays that complement those of Nos. 1 and 1A, and it is distinguished by a very fine early 19th-century shop front.
