Description

This is a cottage dating from around the 16th or 17th century. It is constructed of colourwashed rubble and has a steeply pitched roof covered with asbestos slate, featuring gabled ends. The cottage has two storeys and originally had a three-window front. It now has small 19th and 20th century two-light casement windows. A central doorway leads to a cross-passage, incorporating a chamfered wooden four-centred arch frame and an old boarded door. Large 20th century dormers have been added to the rear, and there is an outshut. A central chimney stack has been removed. Inside, wooden newel stairs are located at either end of the cottage. One fireplace is present, with a timber bressumer supported by a single stone corbel. This building has group value, contributing to the character of its surroundings.
