Description

Symes Cottage is a cottage dating from around the 17th century. It is constructed of white-washed stone rubble and features a thatched roof with hipped and half hipped ends. The building has two storeys and a range of three to four windows, which include two and three light casements, some of which are from the 18th century and have leaded panes. The right-hand doorway has a plank door and is accompanied by a modern wooden porch. There is a brick ridge chimney stack that is off centre, and a single storey lean-to is present at each end of the cottage. Inside, there is a stopped chamfer ceiling beam and a fireplace bressummer, with the fireplace featuring an oven and a pointed arch opening.
