Description
Court Hall is a cottage dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the late 20th century. The exterior is roughcast over rubble, topped with a slate roof featuring coped verges and a brick stack at the gable ends. The building has a three-cell plan, which may or may not include a cross passage. It stands two storeys high and has three bays. The first floor features small 20th-century two-light casements, except for a steeply chamfered two-light wooden casement on the left. On the ground floor, there are two 20th-century four-light casements on the left and one three-light casement to the right of a stone door case with a four-centred arch and chamfered edges, which holds a 20th-century plank door.
Inside, the partially viewed room to the right of the entrance appears to have a four-panel compartment ceiling and chamfered beams with step and surmount stops. There is evidence of a stair beside the fireplace, indicated by a small moulded opening on the left return gable end. The presence of a stone four-centred arch door case in this vernacular cottage is unusual and can also be found at Wayside, which features a similar steeply chamfered two-light casement on the first floor to the left.
