Description
The Post Office is a cottage dating from around the 16th century. It is built of roughcast stone rubble and has a concrete tile roof with gabled ends. The building is two storeys high and features a three-window range with 20th-century casements. There is a central doorway that is accompanied by a 20th-century porch, and a rendered chimney stack is located at one gable end. To the left, there is a one-storey and attic wing that has been much altered. At the rear, there is a semi-circular stair tower.
Inside, the cottage has jointed cruck trusses and a chamfered cambered arch doorframe at the back of the cross passage. Similar doorframes can be found at the newel stairs, which have solid wooden treads, and in a partition on the first floor. The ceiling beams are stop-chamfered. There is an open fireplace that features a cambered and chamfered bressummer with chamfered stone jambs, and the bressummer extends to the left to form a two-centred arch.
