Description

Beer Mill is a house, formerly attached to a mill, likely built in the 17th century and remodeled with many new windows in the early 19th century. The building features partly whitewashed rubble walls and a corrugated asbestos roof, with a gable end on the left that has a rubble stack and a half-hipped roof on the right. There is a tall axial rubble stack. The left two bays were probably originally an outbuilding, while the main dwelling has single rooms on each side of a cross-passage. The house is two storeys high with a six-window range.

On the left side, there are horizontal sliding sash windows with two panes per sash next to a four-paned window. To the right, there are four Gothick pointed arched openings, two of which are blocked. The left side openings have Y bars and two-light casements with two panes each. The ground floor on the left side features a three-light casement with eight panes per light next to a plank door and a two-light casement inserted in a blocked doorway. There are three Gothick pointed arched openings to the right with Y bars; the two outer windows have two panes per light, while the central one has single panes and is set in a former blocked doorway next to an off-centre doorway with a pointed chamfered arch and a ledged plank door.

Inside, there are scroll stops on the chamfered fireplace lintel and a chamfered ceiling beam with run-out stops in the room to the left of the cross-passage. The upper storey of the right end bay was once a mill loft and features a blocked pointed arch doorway at first floor level in the right end wall. Additionally, there is a small right-angled rubble extension at the front left end.
