Description
Higher Winsham is a house, formerly a farmhouse, likely dating from the 16th century. It is constructed of whitewashed rubble and cob, topped with a thatched roof featuring gable end brick stacks. The house has a large lateral hall stack on the front, with the upper part set diagonally in brick. The layout follows a three-cell cross-passage plan. The south front displays a range of three windows: from left to right, there are two 2-light casements, with the left one having four panes in each light and the right one having two panes in each light. Above these, there is a fixed 6-paned light over four 2-light casements, with the three to the left having two panes in each light and the right one having six panes in each light. There is a 20th-century glazed porch and a small lean-to extension added to the right.
