Description

Mill Farmhouse is a house and former mill with origins in the 17th century, significantly altered in the late 18th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with concrete tile roofs and features an east end stack and a ridge stack. The building is two storeys high, presenting a long front with the house to the right and the former mill to the left. The house section has a double-fronted range with metal casement windows featuring brick cambered heads, and a central entrance with a stone hood supported by brackets. To the left of this is a large, later 19th-century canted bay with an ashlar slate roof and plate glass sash windows. The mill section has two small first-floor windows with brick cambered heads, a ground-floor door, and a French window. A rubble stone rear wing is also present. Internally, the house section retains a 17th-century moulded stone fireplace at the east end. The mill section has 18th-century roof trusses, but no remaining machinery.
