Description
Kellaways Mill, now a house, dates from the late 17th century and 18th century. It is built of rubble stone with a stone slate roof, featuring coped gables and one ridge stack. The building has two storeys and an attic. The right end is likely older and includes cyma-moulded recessed mullion windows, with 2-light windows on the first floor to the right and in the north end attic and first floor. There are also remnants of a dripcourse on the ground floor to the right, extending from a door with a hood on brackets. The overall structure has a seven-window range of 20th-century renewed or new casement pairs, and a five-window range to the left of the door made of squared rubble stone, likely from the 18th century. There are four renewed hipped dormers. The south end gable features outside stairs and an attic 2-light cyma-moulded flush mullion window, with added lights on each side. This section, which was the former mill, has a beam inscribed with "EL 1712." Attached to the north end is a low 19th-century range that connects to a taller, possibly earlier range with a Bridgwater tile roof, which extends over a full-height opening to the left and has a half-hipped design. To the right, there is a window, a window in a former door, and an eaves dormer gable. The north stack completes the structure.
