Description
The farm buildings south of Hensleigh Farmhouse are a pair of barns dating from the mid-19th century, forming part of a planned model farm group. They are constructed with local rubble walls and feature segmental rubble arches over the openings. The roofs are dry slate, with some areas grouted with bitumen, and all roofs have projecting eaves and verges. The overall layout is L-shaped, with one range positioned at right angles to the farmhouse, containing two carriage entrances, while the other range includes a threshing barn that adjoins the angle and a linhay.
The exterior is two storeys high. The courtyard front displays, from the left, an open linhay front that is partly concealed by a late 20th-century shed, a large opening that has been later subdivided, a tall narrow doorway, a wide loading doorway on the first floor, and a very large threshing doorway. Following the angle, there is a carriage opening, a small doorway, a window opening above the small doorway, and then a series of three similar doorways. There is a wide loading opening above the large opening and a carriage opening at the far right. The roof then rises to a two-window-range building that has a very short return on its right where it adjoins the farmhouse.
The interior has not been inspected but is likely to retain the original roof and floor structures.
