Description
Patcott Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the early 17th century. It is constructed of rendered cob and features a slate roof with projecting eaves and verges. The building has brick stacks at both ends and a brick axial stack located towards the left. The farmhouse has a three-room and cross-passage plan, which has been extended at the rear.
The exterior is two storeys high and has an overall four-window range. The windows are three-light casements with glazing bars set in wide openings, with four of the windows being old and the others dating from the 20th century. There are two gabled porches: one is located towards the left, and the other is central to the fenestration, positioned to the right of the left porch. This central porch features a wide doorway with a six-panel door that is likely from the 18th or 19th century.
Inside, the interior has been partly inspected, revealing a late 16th or early 17th century cyma and ovolo-moulded crossbeam in the central room, which is presumed to be the original hall. There is also a boxed-in axial beam in the left-hand room. The roof structure is believed to be contemporary with the slating of the roof, which probably dates from the late 19th or early 20th century.
