Description

This milepost, located about 1 mile southeast of Codford St Mary, dates from around 1840. It is a cast-iron classical pillar topped with a pediment, featuring raised lettering on the front that reads: SALISBURY / 13 / WARMINSTER / 8. This milepost is part of a series of cast-iron mileposts and boundary posts that were installed on turnpikes radiating from Warminster, and it was made by the ironfounders Carson and Miller.
