Description

Milepost located in the drive to the east of Clyffe Farm, dating from 1840. This milepost is made of cast iron and features a classical-style pillar with a low pedimented top. It has raised lettering on the front that reads: SALISBURY / 9 / WARMINSTER / 12. This milepost is part of a series of cast-iron mileposts and boundary posts found on turnpikes radiating from Warminster, which were manufactured by Carson and Miller, a firm of ironfounders based in Warminster.
