Description
This is a milepost located about 100 metres east of the entrance to Manor Farm, dating from 1840. It is made of cast iron and features a classical-style pillar with a low pedimented top. The front of the milepost has raised lettering indicating the distances to Salisbury (12 miles) and Warminster (9 miles). The lower half of the post has sunk into the bank. This milepost is part of a series of cast-iron mileposts and boundary posts on turnpikes that radiate from Warminster, manufactured by the Warminster ironfounders Carson and Miller.
