Description
The Old School House is a cottage with an attached former schoolroom, dating from the 18th century, with the schoolroom added in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone and flint, featuring a half-hipped thatched roof with a brick stack on the right side, while the schoolroom has a Welsh slate roof and an ashlar bellcote on the north gable. The cottage is positioned at right angles to the village green.
The south front of the cottage is two-storey with five windows. There is a planked door located to the right of centre, accompanied by a 2-light casement to the right and two 2-light casements to the left. On the first floor, there are three 2-light casements and two single-light casements. Attached to the right is a single-storey 19th-century outhouse, which features a planked door and two 4-pane sash windows. The schoolroom at the rear has an external brick stack, a planked door set in a stone chamfered case to the right, and three 8-pane sash windows to the left. The north gable of the schoolroom has a coped verge and an ashlar bellcote. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in September 1985.
