Description
Tudor Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the mid-17th century, with alterations made in the 1980s. It is constructed of rubble stone and square panelled timber-framing with brick nogging, topped by a thatched roof and featuring a stone stack. The building has an L-plan layout and a gable-end baffle-entry. The entrance is now located in a weatherboarded 20th-century extension at first floor level, and the cottage is built on the side of a hill.
The cottage is two storeys high and has two windows. At the rear, there is a 20th-century door set in a limestone porch to the right, with a three-light casement window above it. The rear wing features a three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement on the return side, along with a 20th-century mullioned casement and a leaded casement window at the rear, all beneath a hipped roof. The right return includes a 20th-century mullioned casement on the ground floor and two two-light casements and one single casement on the first floor. The interior was not accessible during the survey in September 1985, but it is reported to retain chamfered beams and an open fireplace.
