Description

STAPLEFORD WARMINSTER ROAD SU 03 NE (north side) 3/66 Milepost in front of Southington Cottages GV II Milepost. Circa 1840. Cast-iron classical-style pillar with low pedimented top and plinth, raised lettering to front: SALISBURY/8/WARMINSTER/13. One of a series of cast-iron mileposts and boundary posts on turnpikes radiating from Warminster and manufactured by Carson and Miller, a firm of Warminster ironfounders.
