Description

The Manor House is a detached house located on the north side of Salisbury Road in Steeple Langford. It dates from the late 17th century, with a rear range added in the early 19th century. The building features a chequered design of limestone and flint, topped with a tiled roof and gable end brick stacks.

The house consists of two parallel ranges and has a two-storey, seven-windowed front. A four-panelled door is set in a part-glazed porch to the left of centre. To the left of the door is a 16-pane flush sash window, and to the right are two additional 16-pane flush sashes. A moulded string course runs along the first floor, which is adorned with seven 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements. The roof has coped verges and two hipped dormers, each with 2-light casements.

On the right side of the building, there are two 2-light mullioned casements, although one on the first floor is blocked. The 17th-century rear wing has a two-span roof and features 2-light and 3-light mullioned casements on the ground, first, and attic floors, also with coped verges. The early 19th-century rear extension to the left is constructed in Flemish bond brick and includes sash windows.

The interior is said to contain a staircase with two turned balusters per open string tread, a moulded and wreathed handrail, and six-panelled doors.
