Description
STEEPLE LANGFORD SALISBURY ROAD SU 03 NW (north side) 2/91 The Manor House GV II Detached house. Late C17, rear range early C19. Chequered limestone and flint, tiled roof, gable end brick stacks. Two parallel ranges. Two-storey, 7-windowed front. Four-panelled door in part-glazed porch to left of centre, to left is 16-pane flush sash, to right are two 16-pane flush sashes. Moulded string course to first floor; seven 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements. Coped verges to roof, two hipped dormers with 2-light casements. Right return has two 2-light mullioned casements, first floor one is blocked. C17 rear wing with 2-span roof, 2-light and 3-light mullioned casements to ground, first and attic floors, coped verges. Early C19 rear extension to left in Flemish bond brick has sashes. Interior reputed to have stairs with two turned balusters per open string tread, moulded and wreathed handrail, 6-panelled doors.
