Description

The barn located to the south of the Old Rectory is a 17th-century structure. It features a dressed limestone plinth with timber framing that is clad in weatherboarding, topped by a half-hipped thatched roof. The barn consists of five bays with aisles. On the west side, there are double planked doors fitted with strap hinges and a small two-light window to the right. The right return wall includes a 19th-century lean-to extension with a tiled roof. The east front has central planked doors, with boarded windows on either side and a two-light fixed window to the right. The left return wall is made of dressed limestone. Inside, the barn boasts heavy timbers supporting tie-beam trusses, with raking struts to the principals, collars, and curved bracing to the aisle posts resting on padstones, along with curved windbraces to the butt purlins.
