Milepost. 1840. Cast-iron classical-style post with pedimented top, plinth, now sunk into ground, good lettering: SALISBURY / 18 / WARMINSTER / 3. One of a series of cast-iron mile posts and boundary posts produced in Warminster by iron founders Carson and Miller c.1840, coinciding with the consolidation of the Turnpike Act for the radial system around Warminster.
