Description

Nos 3 and 4 High Street are a pair of cottages, possibly dating from the 16th century and altered in the 17th century. They are constructed from rubble stone and have a single Roman tiled roof, which was formerly thatched. The roof features coped verges and a brick stack located to the right of the center. The cottages are single-storey with an attic and have three windows across the front.

The entrance is a planked door set in a gabled porch on the left, with a 2-light casement window to the left and a 3-light ovolo-mullioned casement window with a hoodmould to the right. There is a flint and stone projection with an offset on the right, which may have been used for a bread oven, and a 2-light fixed window to the right of that. In the attic, there is one 19th-century gabled dormer with a 2-light casement window.

On the right side of the building, there is a 3-light leaded casement window and a blocked chamfered light to the left, along with a 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement window on the first floor and a chamfered loft vent. The left side features flint and stone chequers, with a 20th-century small sash window on the ground floor and a 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement window in the attic. There is also a rear lean-to extension. The interiors were not accessible during the survey conducted in April 1987.
