Description

STOCKTON HIGH STREET ST 93 NE (south side) 7/123 The Old Rectory (formerly listed as The Rectory) 11.9.68 GV II Rectory, now detached house. Late C18, extended C19. Flemish bond brick on rubble stone plinth, tiled roof with gable end brick stacks. Two-storey and attic, 5-window symmetrical front. L-plan with wings. Central 6-panelled door with semi-circular fanlight in panelled reveals with open pediment on fluted columns, two segmental-headed 12-pane sashes either side, 3-light leaded cellar casement below to right. First floor has five segmental-headed sashes; all sashes with keystones. Roof has three hipped dormers with 2-light casements. Dressed limestone right return has sashes and datestone inscribed H. GOOD / 1799. Left return with sashes and single storey brick addition with datestone inscribed 1828. Contemporary rear wing to right, early C19 added wing to left with sashes. Interior has good 6-panelled doors in moulded architraves, window shutters to ground floor sashes. (Plans in Wiltshire Records Office)
