Description

Rock Cottage is a house dated 1761, though it may have earlier origins. It is constructed of rubble stone and features a stone tiled roof with a rebuilt ridge stack. The building is one storey with an attic and has a 'T'-plan layout, with a projecting gable on the south front. The windows are ovolo-moulded stone-mullions and have hoodmoulds. The gable front includes a lower 3-light window, an upper 2-light window, and a single light window on the west side wall. There is a stone doorcase located in the angle to the left of the gable, topped with a stone hood and a datestone inscribed with "J W E 1761." Above, there is a dormer gable featuring a 2-light window. The west end wall has a 3-light window on the ground floor and a 2-light window on the first floor, both without hoodmoulds. The rear gable contains one 2-light ovolo-moulded window.
