Description
The Barton is a row of three cottages in Bidestone, Slaughterford, rebuilt in 1829 from an 18th-century structure. The cottages are constructed of rough rubble stone, with stone tiled roofs and three chimney stacks. They have a symmetrical, six-window front, featuring plate glass sash windows in plain stone surrounds. Each cottage has a ground-floor door and window. Around 2000, porches and a ground-floor window were added to numbers 3 and 4. A datestone inscribed "P B M 1829" is visible. A cornerstone at the rear north-west upper corner bears a scratched date of 1776. The cottages are listed for their group value.
